Description
The screen and gates to the forecourt of Number 115 Parkers Buildings were built between 1889 and 1890 by John Douglas for the first Duke of Westminster. Made of wrought iron, the structure features low stone plinths and open-work iron gateposts with square bars, some of which are twisted in a "barleysugar" style. The gateposts have caps marked with a "W" for Westminster and simple finials. There are pedestrian gateways on each side and a central carriage gateway. The gates, which have square and twisted bars, include dogbars at the lower rail and simple scrolls at the upper rail. This feature is part of a coordinated design with Parker's Buildings and Nos 113 and 117 Foregate Street.
