Description
Three town houses, built in 1777 and altered in the 19th and 20th centuries, now used as four shops with accommodation above. The front is of brown brick in a Flemish bond pattern, with grey slate and clay tile roofs.
The right-hand houses, now Nos. 128 and 130, have two 20th-century shop fronts. The first floor has three recessed sash windows with two panes each, while the second floor has two similar sash windows but with shorter heights. The central bay has a 20th-century restaurant front, and upper windows similar to those of Nos. 128 and 130, but with six panes to the upper leaves of the first floor and three panes in each leaf of the second floor. No. 132 has a vehicle entry under a lintel, a narrow modern shop front, and two recessed 12-pane sash windows on the first floor and two six-pane sash windows on the second floor. All upper storey windows have painted stone sills and wedge lintels. A rainwater pipe between Nos. 130 and 132 has an upper bracket dated 1777 and a cast lead head. There’s an unbroken vertical joint between the central and left houses, and a modillion cornice. The right and central houses have ridges running at a right angle to the street, while the left house has a tiled roof with a ridge parallel to the front.
The central house has an 18-pane stair window to the side. Although the interiors were not inspected, some Georgian detailing is visible in the upper rooms from the street.
