Description

This is a row of three townhouses, now used as shops and offices, dating from the early 19th century and altered over time. The buildings are constructed of red brick in Flemish bond, featuring some sandstone dressings and a slate roof. They have a double-depth plan, with each house being single-fronted and having long back extensions. The row stands three storeys high over cellars, with a total of three windows for each house, and a stone plinth that is now only visible at No. 98 on the left. The eaves cornice is modillioned.

No. 98 features a round-headed doorway on the left, which has a stone doorcase supported by Tuscan semi-columns, a panelled door accessed by three steps, and a plain fanlight above. To the right of the doorway are two windows, with three additional windows on each floor above. All windows are 12-pane sashes with raised sills and flat-arched heads made of gauged brick. Nos. 94 and 96 have a unified 20th-century shop front at the ground floor. On the first floor, No. 94 has altered windows, while No. 96 features sashes without glazing bars. On the second floor, No. 96 has 12-pane sashes, and No. 94 has shorter 9-pane sashes, except for the centre window, which has been altered. The buildings also have ridge chimneys.
