Description
Oddfellows Hall is a friendly society office, now serving as a college, built around 1900 to 1910 and altered since then. The building is constructed of brick with a facade of cream terracotta, and its roof is not visible. It features a rectangular plan and is designed in the Edwardian Baroque style. The structure has three storeys and a symmetrical layout with a 1:2:1:2:1 bay arrangement. The central and end sections project slightly forward, while the intermediate bays are framed by giant Ionic columns that enclose recessed windows on the first and second floors. The ground floor has channelled rustication, a prominent modillioned cornice, and a balustraded parapet.
The central entrance includes a round-headed doorway adorned with a large cartouche keyblock and a scrolled wrought-iron fanlight, flanked by pendent pilasters featuring fasces. The upper floors are supported by giant pilasters with panels that also contain fasces. The windows on these floors have variously enriched architraves, including swagged aprons on the second floor. The ground floor features segmental-headed windows, except for those in the end bays, which are square-headed. All windows have splayed voussoirs and large key blocks, though the glazing has been altered. Notably, two ground floor windows on the right retain remnants of engraved glass, one of which displays part of the original lettering "Order of/ MANCHESTER/ FRIENDLY/ OFFICES". The interior has not been inspected.
