Description
A tithe barn dating to the late 17th century is located 180 metres south east of Alvanley Hall. The barn is constructed of brown English garden wall brickwork with a graded grey slate roof. It has a slightly projecting plinth of large, coursed red sandstone blocks. A threshing porch sits beneath a catslide roof. A band of three brick courses runs at the first floor level. Loophole vents are visible on each storey. The barn features double framed and boarded doors opposite the threshing porch, though the doors to the threshing porch have been removed. A camber-arched opening has been inserted into the lower storey of the right gable, and a pointed arched opening is present in each gable end at the upper storey. Plain eaves with a flush board fascia have been added, and the coped gables have kneelers. Inside, there are two oak kingpost trusses supported by brackets.
