Description
Millbank Farm is a house located on Main Street in Frodsham, originally associated with a miller and dating from the 18th century or earlier. The building was altered and recased in brick in the early 19th century. It features brown Flemish bond brickwork with pale headers set on a sandstone plinth, topped with a grey slate roof. The structure is two storeys high, plus a cellar and attic, and has three windows. There is a cross-gable on the left and a slightly projecting front with a gable on the right. The verges were refaced in hard red brick in the late 19th century, and there are three brick chimneys, one on the ridge opposite the door, which have been recapped in hard red brick.
The entrance includes a six-panel door set beneath a skewback cambered arch. To the right of the door, there is a 16-pane recessed sash window on each storey, while each front gable features a 12-pane recessed sash window on both storeys. Inside, there is a chamfered oak beam in the rear room on the right, a painted newel stair with stick balusters, likely from the early 18th century, broad-board doors on H-L hinges, and some fixed cupboards of Georgian design.
