Description

Quarry Bridge, also known as Canal Bridge Number 121, is a canal road bridge built around 1776 by Samuel Weston for the Chester Canal Company. It is constructed of washed brick with stone dressings. The bridge features a segmental brick arch supported by canted piers, which includes a keystone and a projecting stone course above. There are three iron ties running through the arch. The plain parapet has stone coping and curves to form short wing walls. This bridge is a standard design for this canal, with two other similar bridges still existing in Christleton.
