Description

Stanthorne Hall is an early 19th-century house located on Middlewich Road in Stanthorne. It is constructed of plum-coloured Flemish bond brick with painted stone dressings and a slate roof. The house is three storeys high and features a symmetrical three-bay entrance front. The central doorway has a painted stone surround with Tuscan columns supporting dosserets and an open pediment with a fanlight above. The ground floor windows are sash windows with 4 panes per height, stone sills, and stone wedge lintels. The first floor windows are similar, and the second floor windows have 4 panes vertically by 2 panes horizontally. The roof is hipped. A long wing extends from the rear on the left. Inside, the staircase hall contains an enriched cornice with triglyphs in the frieze and a three-flight open well staircase. Two ground floor rooms have black marble chimney pieces featuring quarter-columns at the corners. The first floor rooms have simpler fire surrounds with hob grates.
