Description
This barn, located 15 meters southeast of Redbrook Farmhouse, was built in 1846 for C R B Legh. It is constructed from rubble buff sandstone with hammer-dressed dressings and features a Welsh slate roof. The east front has a nearly central cart entrance with an elliptical head, and the keystone of the arch is inscribed with "C R B Legh Esq 1846." To the right, there are three bays that include a shippon with a central entrance beneath a massive stone lintel and six-pane windows on either side. Above this area, there are three large semi-circular headed pitch holes for the hayloft. The left gable contains the entrance to a coach house and harness room. At the time of its construction, Redbrook Farm served as the residence of the Legh estate agent, which explains the presence of the coach house.
