Description
Nos 14 and 16 Barker Street are mid-18th century red brick buildings that stand three stories tall. They feature six sash windows, with the first storey of No. 14 lacking glazing bars. The windows have channelled lintels and end keyblocks. There is a stone band and plinth, along with stone quoins at the ends of the buildings. Each house has two moulded wood pilaster doorcases topped with pediments on consoles, rectangular fanlights, and recessed eight-panelled doors in panelled reveals. The door to No. 14 is a modern reproduction. Stone steps lead up to No. 16, which is flanked by 19th-century iron railings. The wood eaves have been restored, and the roofs are covered with slates. Nos 12 to 20 (even) and The Dowery form a group with these buildings.
