Description
The Round House is a farmhouse built in 1852, as indicated by a stone tablet in the rear wing. It is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond and features a slate roof. The building has two storeys and three bays, with a rear wing that completes a "T" shaped plan. The windows are replaced casements with two and three lights, stone sills, and cambered flat arches. There is a projecting gabled brick porch on one side, which has a fully glazed door and a wing light. The rear wing retains original casements in a cross window style and has a stone tablet with scalloped corners, inscribed with the initials ML and the date. A brick dentil course runs along the eaves, and there are gable-end stacks and barge boards.
Although the interior is noted as having no special interest, the site has historical significance, evidenced by a nearby farm building that has been reduced to a single storey. This structure features 17th-century brickwork, oak beams and joists, and arch-headed door frames.
