Description
The gates and piers to St Bartholomew's Church date from around 1702, with replacements and repairs made in 1861. They feature wrought and cast iron metalwork alongside sandstone masonry. The replacement cast iron gates are designed with roundels and fleur-de-lys, framed by flat bars and round rods. These gates are hung on a pair of rusticated sandstone piers that have moulded caps and ball finials. The caps of the piers support a wrought iron overthrow adorned with scrollwork, which includes a seating for a removable lamp. This structure is listed for its group value.
