Description
Smithy House is a cottage from the early 17th century that has undergone some alterations and additions. It features a brick nogged timber frame and a tiled roof. The building stands two storeys high and has four window bays. The small framing includes angle braces, with timbers visible at both the front and rear. There is a boarded door located under a gabled canopy supported by curved brackets. The windows are flush casement style with glazing bars, and the original wallplate is visible in the wall, situated well below the current eaves level.
Inside, the cottage has bevelled beams and exposed bevelled joists, along with an inglenook beam. At the first floor level, there are wide board doors fitted with strap hinges and wind braces supporting the purlins.
