Description

Mill House is a house from the late 17th century, with later additions. It features a plastered, brick nogged timber frame and a roof covered with large old slates. The building is two storeys high and has four bays, with a gabled design. It has a brick plinth topped with a moulded stone course. The timber framing consists of small sections with angle braces on both the front and the garden front. The original casement windows have been replaced with ones that include glazing bars.

On the garden front, which faces east, there is a single-storey projecting porch made of timber framing, which contains a modern three-panel door. The gabled bays project outward and have jettied apexes. Between the gabled ends of the garden front, there is a timber-framed gabled half dormer. The end gables feature barge boards with finials, and there are chimneys with divided flues. An additional bay has been added to the north, along with a single-storey wing on the east side that has imitation plaster timbers.

Inside, the house has bevelled beams and exposed joists. An inscribed stone set into the ground floor internal wall bears the initials BSA 1697 and the name William Wilson 1784.
