Description

The Village Farmhouse is an early 17th-century farmhouse with later alterations and additions, located in Church Minshull. It has a brown brick exterior with a slate roof and a “T” shaped plan, incorporating a four-bay main block and a two-bay west wing. The south elevation of the west wing faces the road. The ground floor windows on the main block are three-light flush casements with glazing bars, turning pieces, and cambered arches. First-floor windows are found in gabled dormers with barge boards. A replaced entrance door features three vertical panels with Tudor arched heads. The west wing has flush casement windows on both floors, and a four-panel, bolection-moulded, part-glazed door with external architraves, sheltered by a hood with bargeboards and a finial supported on cast iron columns, and featuring iron latticework side checks. Timber framing is visible below eaves level at the rear of the west wing. Inside, there are deep bevelled beams, bevelled ceiling joists, exposed timber framing in internal walls, wide-boarded doors with "H" hinges.
