Description
3 and 5 Pexhill Road is a pair of houses, possibly originally part of a row of three, likely built in the late 17th century with an early 19th-century addition. The buildings are rendered over brick, with a possible timber-framed core, and feature a heavy stone-flagged roof. The original structure consists of one-and-a-half storeys with a main range and a cross wing plan, which has been extended by a two-storey, single-window range to the right, likely a separate dwelling at one time.
The central doorway to No. 3 is located in the middle of the main range and has a canopy hood above it, with a continuous hoodmould that spans the flanking three-light casement windows. Above, there is a single wide gabled dormer featuring a three-light casement. The gabled wing to the left, which is No. 5, has a doorway to the left framed by a plain architrave, with a three-light casement window on each floor next to it. There is brick nogging at the string course. An axial stack is present at the junction of the main range and the cross wing, along with a 20th-century side wall stack on the wing. No. 3 has a single-window range extension to the right, featuring a doorway to the left and a three-light casement window beside it. The upper storey is blind, illuminated by a casement window in the gable wall.
