Description
Bollington Hall Farmhouse is a former farmhouse that has origins dating back to the 16th century, with fabric from the 17th century and early 20th-century alterations. The building is constructed from washed, coursed squared buff sandstone rubble and features a Kerridge stone-slate roof, a stone ridge, and two brick chimneys. It has an L-shaped plan and is two stories high with a three-bay front. The end bays have 20th-century wooden casements set under rough stone lintels, which still show partial remains of hood moulds above. The right gable end features a prominent, stepped stone chimney, flanked by two-light chamfered rubble mullions that also have rubble hood moulds. The interior has not been inspected, but a partial demolition of the rear in 1974 revealed at least one cruck and timber framing in the walls, which are now concealed by a brick extension.
