Description
The boat house, located approximately 300 yards east of Doddington Hall, dates from the late 18th century and is likely designed by Samuel Wyatt. It is constructed of yellow sandstone ashlar and red brick. The front features an ashlar section with three round-headed arches that lead to three tunnel-vaulted boat houses made of brick, which are set into the bank and covered with earth. The river-facing wall is slightly concave and has three arches, with the central arch being wider and featuring a projecting band at the level of the springing and keystones. The central arch is adorned with a grotesque animal head. Behind the central chamber, there is a flight of steps leading to a trap door, which is now in a ruinous condition.
