Description
Lake Lodge gates, piers, and screen walls were built around 1777 to 1790 by Samuel Wyatt. They are made of wrought iron, ashlar stone, and red English garden wall bond brick with ashlar coping. The central drive gates feature arrowhead finials on the palings, quatrefoils on the dog bar panel, and crescent-shaped strengthening bars. On either side of the gates are square ashlar piers with banded rustication and flat pyramidal caps. Flanking these piers are double wicket gates that resemble the drive gates but lack the strengthening bars. Additional pairs of similar ashlar piers connect to the curved screen walls, which have chamfered ashlar coping on top.
