Description

Blakenhall Farmhouse is a 17th-century farmhouse constructed of red English garden wall bond brick, with a plain tile roof. It has two storeys and a baffle entry plan. The front of the farmhouse has three bays, with a doorway to the right of centre, above which is a gabled porch. To the left and right of the doorway are three-light, cambered-headed windows. Three 2-light gabled dormer windows are visible at first-floor level. A ridge chimney stack sits to the right of centre. Inside, the parlour features stop-chamfered spine beams with run-out stops that meet at a plain boss in the centre of the room, and an ingle-nook fireplace with a boxed bressumer. A staircase is located to the left of the fireplace. The roof structure includes queen post trusses with angle braces and wind bracing to the purlins.
