Description

The gatepiers before Checkley Hall date from the late 17th century or early 18th century. They are made of yellow sandstone ashlar and have a square plan, standing approximately 12 feet high. Each gatepier features a moulded base, with chamfered rusticated blocks on the body, and cyma-moulded capitals that support convex finials topped with balls.
