Description
The wall of paddocks and stable building dates from the late 18th century and is constructed of red random bond brick with ashlar coping. It features four rectangular paddocks arranged in a 2 x 2 layout, creating one large rectangle that includes a central stable building with four individual stables, each leading to one of the paddocks. The walls rise to a height of 10 to 12 feet and are topped with unmoulded ashlar coping. The central stable block has a hipped slate roof. Originally, the east and west walls had two stable doors with cambered heads, while the north and south walls contained two cambered-headed windows; however, this arrangement has been altered by later additions. The southern wall includes a pitch hole on the left and a loft door on the right at the first floor. Previously part of the paddocks for Doddington Hall, the enclosures were being used as nursery gardens at the time of the last survey in 1985.
