Description
The Guildhall is a former county police office built around 1840. It is constructed from coursed and squared stone with a Welsh slate roof. The building has two storeys and features a seven-window range, with outer and central gabled bays that are advanced, as well as a central entrance. Designed in the Gothic style, it includes a central four-centred arched doorway with a hoodmould, and a two-light mullioned window above, all set beneath a high coped gable adorned with finials. The flanking windows consist of single and two-light designs, all with arched lights. The building also has axial stacks.
In addition to the main structure, there are subsidiary features such as spearhead cast-iron railings on a low stone plinth wall, complemented by panelled stone gate piers that have strongly overhanging caps, located at the boundary with the street.
