Description
No. 11 King Edward Street is a house that has been converted into offices, although it was vacant at the time of the survey. It dates from the late 18th century but has an earlier core. The building is constructed of brick and features a slate roof. It stands three storeys high and has a two-window range with a central entrance; the doorway has been renewed in a Georgian style. The windows are renewed sashes set in their original openings, which have flat-arched brick heads and stone sills. During the demolition of an adjoining building in 1975, medieval timbers were discovered, including an arched and moulded truss that may have originally been part of an internal bay of an early hall. Some of this earlier structure was incorporated into the early core of No. 11.
