Description
The Western vase on the Lower Terrace in the garden before the south front of Tatton Hall is a decorative feature dating from around 1860, designed by Sir Joseph Paxton. It is made of cement and stands on a square plinth with a moulded base. The vase itself has a fluted wine-glass base, a knopped stem, and a wide lower body that is gadrooned. It also features egg and dart beading along the lip, which is lined with copper. This vase is one of a pair, with the Eastern vase located on the opposite side of the Triton Fountain.
