Description
The pool and fountain located before the south front of the Orangery at Tatton Park was created around 1860. It is made of sandstone and features a circular pool with a central pedestal that supports two bowls, creating a cascading effect. The rim of the pool is rounded and intricately carved with a large petal motif. The base of the pedestal is cross-shaped with concave angles and is adorned with leaf scrolls. A bowed column, decorated with leaf motifs at the base and a spiral-fluted body, supports the first bowl, which has a band of gadrooned decoration on its body and large petal decoration on its lip. A shorter column rises to the second bowl, which is similar in design to the first but shallower.
