Description

Rostherne Lodge is a lodge built in 1833 by James Hakewill. It is constructed of ashlar stone and features a lead roof. The building has one storey with a basement. The front facing the drive has a hexastyle Greek Doric portico, with the central space between the columns being wider. It includes a full entablature adorned with triglyphs and guttae, suspended from mutules, along with plain metopes and a plain pediment. The porch entry is located behind the portico, flanked by screen walls that end in pilaster responds to the lateral columns.

On the right side, there is a wing that contains one sash window with three panes by four panes. The road front has two sash windows, each with three panes by four panes. The south-east facade features one sash window with three panes by four panes to the left, a central pedimented wing with a sash window of four panes by four panes, and a later 19th-century extension to the right that has a window with six panes by four panes, extending down as wooden panelling to the ground, with a doorway set in the centre.

The north-east facade has an open portico with lateral columns and entablature pieces, but lacks central columns or entablature. There is one sash window with three panes by four panes to the left of centre. The basement area is cobbled and enclosed by a stone wall, with brick walls to the basement. There is a door to the left, accompanied by an iron-framed casement window with three lights, each containing three panes by seven panes.
