Description
Homefield is a mid to late 18th century detached house located on the south side of Chapel Street. It is constructed of red brick with a stone plinth and stands three storeys tall. The building features five sash windows, which have single glazing bars, although some of the windows are blocked. These windows are adorned with flat brick arches, stone keyblocks, and stone sills.
At the center of the house, there is a restored wood pilaster doorcase that includes sidelights and an elliptical fanlight without glazing bars. The entrance also features a six-panelled door and a Victorian glass and iron column porch, alongside a plain brick porch and plain brick pilasters. The house is topped with a parapet that has a stone cornice and gabled ends, and it is covered with slates. To the left side, there is a one-window wing.
Homefield is part of a group that includes Nos 2 to 8 (even), St Peter's Church, and the gate piers, gates, and railings of St Peter's Churchyard, along with the paved area of Cockshuts.
