Description
Chapel House is a late 18th century detached house located on Chapel Street. It is constructed of red brick with a stone plinth and features three storeys on one side and two storeys on the other. The right-hand side has a two-storeyed splayed-end wing, while the left-hand side has a later two-storeyed block with one window. The house has plain sash windows, with the first storey windows featuring glazing bars, all having flat brick arches and stone sills. The doorway is framed by a stone Doric surround with three-quarter columns, a frieze, and a pediment, leading to a six-panelled door. The eaves cornice is moulded, made of both stone and wood, and the roof is covered with slates. Chapel House was formerly known as the National Sunday School, and it is part of a group that includes Nos 31 to 37 on the same street.
