Description
Ye Olde White Lion Public House is a timber-framed building dating from the 16th to 17th century, known for its "black and white" appearance. It has two storeys and features two gables that overhang. The building includes some decorative elements, such as plaster masks located under the gable coves. The windows are restored casement types with wooden mullions and transoms, some of which have leaded lights. There is also a restored facsimile door. The front of the building is covered with old stone slates, while the rear has plain slates. Historically, this building is said to have originally served as an attorney's office where Bradshaw, the Regicide, completed his articles. It is believed that a portion on the right-hand side has been demolished.
