Description
Simonswood Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the late 18th century to the early 19th century. It is built of plum Flemish bond brick and has a slate roof. The building has two storeys and features a stone plinth on the entrance front, which consists of three bays. There is a central projecting porch wing that contains a set of glazed late 19th-century double doors framed by a stone surround with a cambered head. On either side of the porch, there are three-light casement windows topped with Tudor arched hood-moulds. The first floor also has three similar windows. The gable of the porch includes a recessed rectangular niche. This farmhouse is noted as one of the finest examples of Tudor-style farm buildings associated with the Capesthorne estate.
