Description
Holford Hall is a mid-17th century farmhouse featuring timber framing with rendered infill and a stone slate roof. The building has two storeys with an attic. The entrance front consists of two gabled bays, with Ionic pilasters at the centre and left on the ground floor that support consoles. The left console is decorated with a relief carving of a lion, while the central one features a figurehead. To the left of centre is a doorway, with a 6-light casement window to the left and a 4-light window to the right. There are three horizontal bands of decorative timber panelling, with the lowest band featuring strutting and two rows of cells containing diamond patterns of quarter circles. The first floor has a slight overhang and two Ionic pilasters similar to those below, with decorated bases and consoles. The central console displays a figure with spread knees, and the left one has a crouching animal in relief. The first floor features three horizontal bands of timber framing, with the lowest band containing 14 cells of framing with ogee-shaped struts. Above this are three panels of small framing arranged in 2 x 2 cells, also containing diamond patterns of quarter circles. There are originally taller 7-light casement windows on both sides. The gables have ogee strutting and originally contained 4-light casement windows, which are now blocked. To the right is a 19th-century wing. The left side features small framing with angle struts, which was originally an internal wall. The rear has a stone plinth and close studding to the left, with a large chimney breast positioned left of centre. There is a projecting central gable wing with close studding and a middle rail on the first floor, along with a 19th-century pointed arched window on the ground floor to the left.
