Description
The Bridge Hotel, originally five cottages, is a building dated 1626, although its fabric primarily dates from the late 17th century and late 18th century, with 20th-century alterations and additions. The structure features a mix of washed coursed squared buff sandstone rubble and rendered brick, topped with a Kerridge stone-slate roof, stone ridge, and three brick chimneys. It has an L-shaped plan and is two stories high with a four-bay street front that includes three-light wooden casements with applied lead glazing, with the upper windows set in gabled half-dormers. The two-story south front displays a rubble hood mould and tall chamfered stone-mullioned windows with two and three lights. Some openings have been altered, and the date of 1626 appears to be a 20th-century copy. Inside, there is a timber-framed partition wall with wattle and daub infill, and while some ceiling beams are exposed, most have been altered. The building is listed for its group value only.
