Description

The Ye Olde Vaults Inn is an early 19th-century public house on the west side of High Street. It is constructed of red brick with three storeys. The windows are sash windows with flat brick arches above. A moulded stone eaves cornice and blocking course runs along the top. The ground floor is largely a contemporary shop front. The central entrance is set within a stone surround with a cornice hood, flanked by a large window on each side; one window has glazing bars, the other is more recent and lacks them. The windows are flanked by four wood-fluted three-quarter Doric column pilasters and an entablature above. The building forms a group with Nos. 42 to 52 (even).
