Description

This is a two-house property, originally a single house built in the 18th century, dated 1728. It is constructed of rendered brick with a slate roof. The building has an "E" shaped plan. The front elevation has five bays arranged in an A.B.C.B.A. rhythm. A central projecting gabled wing features a pointed doorway with a 20th-century glazed door on the ground floor. Above this is a sash window with 3 x 4 panes and exposed sash boxes. A square datestone is set into the gable. To either side of the central wing are three-light casement windows on the ground floor, with central opening lights. First floor windows above these are 4 x 4 pane sashes with exposed sash boxes. Projecting gabled wings on the left and right sides have ground floor sash windows, one of 5 x 4 panes and the other of 4 x 4 panes. A two-light casement window with 4 x 5 panes is found on the left wing, and a 4 x 4 pane sash window on the right. A recessed 19th-century addition of two bays is present to the left, and a similar addition to the right, incorporating a ground-floor door. The rear elevation features an early 19th-century bow window to the left. The central portion has later 19th or 20th-century ground-floor additions, with three early 18th-century two-light casement windows on the first floor. Inside, the ground-floor rooms have stop-chamfered spine beams with run-out stops. An early 18th-century open-well staircase has a quarter-turn winders, turned balusters, a moulded hand rail, and newels with ovolo mouldings to the corners. Four early 18th-century panelled doors are located in the first-floor landing.
