Description
Manor Farmhouse is a farmhouse built around 1670. It is constructed of plum English garden wall bond brick, with stone and rendered stone additions, topped with a slate roof. The entrance front features a stone plinth, with a gabled single-storey porch on the right side that has rendered stone quoins. The semi-circular arched doorway is now bricked in, with an arched late 19th-century window above that has an ovolo moulded sill. To the left is a two-bay 19th-century section, which includes a central doorway with a gabled timber porch supported on a brick base. Flanking this doorway are four-light windows with ovolo-moulded mullions and surrounds, topped with cambered relieving arches. The first floor has two similar three-light windows and a single-light 19th-century window above the 17th-century gabled porch. There are signs of previous window arrangements, including indications of two blocked second-floor windows. A 19th-century two-storey addition to the right features a three-light canted bay window with ovolo-moulded mullions and surround on the ground floor, and a three-light window with an ovolo-moulded surround on the first floor.
Inside, the ground floor rooms have chamfered end-stopped ceiling beams. A corridor features decorated panelling, which may have originally formed the dais end of the ground floor hall, made of plaster and wood. The central doorway has a rectangular panel above it containing a shield divided vertically by a raised band, with an inscription in relief that reads "L. L. I. E. S. S. 1668 1673." Flanking this central panel are paired pilasters on cyma moulded bases, surrounded by strapwork. Each side has semi-circular panels with strapwork surrounds, diamond-pointed rustication in the spandrels, and raised keystones. These panels contain relief mouldings of two pear trees inclined towards each other. There is also a further rectangular panel above the door to the right, showing inclined pear trees, which may be of a later date.
