Description
The Pines is a farmhouse built in the early 19th century, with a rear wing dating from the early 17th century. It is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond and has a slate roof. The building is two storeys high with an attic and features three bays. The entrance is recessed and has an arched shape with moulded springers and a keystone decorated with a flower. It includes a six-panel door, where the two lower panels are flush and the upper four are raised and fielded, topped by a radial bar fanlight. The windows are recessed sash types with glazing bars, stone sills, and skewback heads. There is a timber eaves cornice and gable end stacks. The rear wing (to the east) features a wide boarded door on strap hinges and an attic metal casement window on gudgeons with leaded lights, while the other windows are timber casements.
Inside, there is an open string staircase with brackets and six-panel doors. The rear wing has ovolo moulded beams.
