Description
Hoolgrave Manor is a farmhouse dating from the late 17th century, constructed from small brown bricks and topped with an old slate roof. The building is two storeys high with an attic and has a "U" shaped plan consisting of three bays. The central bay projects and features a pediment; the original entrance has been replaced by a small oriel window, and the first-floor window above has been built up. The outer bays contain three-light flush casements with stone sills and skewback heads. Brick pilasters mark the corners, and there is a stone cove at the eaves along with stone copings on the gables. Gable end stacks are present, and both rear wings have a single stone-dressed splayed window opening with a keystone at attic level. The entrance in the east wing features a pilaster and a pedimented doorcase, but lacks a door, leading to an internal porch. All windows in the wings are casements.
Inside, there is an oak staircase with a central rail but no balusters, along with ovolo and bevelled beams, some of which are braced. The doorways have panelled soffites, and there are wide boarded doors.
