Description

The gate piers to Lyme Park date from the late 17th century, with alterations made around 1860. They are constructed from ashlar sandstone and feature plain square piers that stand on moulded feet above square bases. The piers are topped with flat capstones that have moulded cornices, which support urns resting on plain four-legged bases. The urns are intricately decorated with carved foliage and tightly bunched floral designs.
