Description
These gate piers and railings, located approximately 5 yards to the northeast of Stone Lodge, date from around 1829 and were created by the Morrisons of Ireland. They are made of yellow sandstone ashlar and wrought iron. The design features low ashlar walling with wrought iron palings that curve forward towards the road on either side. At the center of the driveway, there are four ashlar piers with a cross section that includes voluted shoulders on either side of a projecting central cap. The two piers closest to the center are topped with finials shaped like eagles and have shields in relief on their upper bodies. This structure is noted for its group value.
