Description

Kennelwood is a 17th-century house located on Whitchurch Road, Newhall. The house is timber-framed with brick infill and has a slate roof. The building follows an H-shaped plan. The front of the house has a central range of renewed 20th-century brickwork, flanked by timber-framed wings. The wing on the left has a jettied gable with ovolo-moulded eaves. Deep plinths support the timber framing of the wings, which display small framing patterns with an angle brace on the right wing. Timber-framed gables are visible above. The windows are all of 20th-century date, consisting of 3-light casements, with a single-light window and a half-glazed door to the left of centre. The right-hand side of the front has snub framing and a brick chimney stack with an offset. The left-hand side and the rear of the house have been entirely rebuilt.

Internally, the ground and first-floor rooms retain chamfered ceiling beams and exposed trusses featuring arched braces rising to collar beams. Moulded brackets are fixed to the lower edges of the trusses, apparently brought in from elsewhere.
