Description
The Woodlands is a farmhouse built in the late 18th century, with some later alterations. It is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond and features a slate roof. The building has three storeys and five bays, following an "F" shaped plan. The entrance includes a six-panel door, where the upper panels are raised and fielded, and the lower two panels are bead and flush. This door is set within a doorcase that has panelled external lining, a radial bar fanlight, and an open pediment. The windows have been altered to include three-light mullion and transom casements, fitted with metal opening lights and leaded glazing. The eaves are treated with a saw tooth design, and there are gable barge boards.
Inside, the farmhouse features six-panel doors hung on H.L. hinges, as well as wide boarded doors at the second floor level. The interior also includes pitch pine bevelled beams. The staircase is notable for its square balusters and newel posts, along with a cut string design.
