Description
Heathwaite is a house built in the mid-18th century, constructed from brick and topped with a slate roof. It stands three storeys high and features a five-window range, with a prominent central bay that has a pediment. The central entrance is framed by a rendered surround and has a flat-arched gauged brick head above it. To the right, there is a canted bay window, likely added in the late 19th century, while the squared bay window to the left may be original. The upper windows are 12-pane sashes, each with flat-arched gauged brick heads. The house has a moulded eaves cornice and end wall stacks. The interior has not been inspected. Historically, this house was the childhood home of Mrs. Gaskell and also the residence of her aunt, Mrs. Lumb.
