Description

Farmhouse. Dating to the late 16th or early 17th century, with an addition from 1832. The building is timber framed with rendered infill and a plain tile roof. It is two storeys high. The original front has a gabled section on the left, with a rendered ground floor containing a 3-light casement window set within a 17th-century moulded wooden frame. The first floor is jettied, featuring a moulded bressumer and close studding with a middle rail and tension braces. A slightly jettied gable above has moulded brackets and close studding. The first floor and attic have 3-light casement windows. To the right of this original section is a recessed portion with a 3-light ground floor window and a 3-light first floor window alongside. To the right again is an early 19th-century addition, featuring a 20th-century lean-to porch with a 20th-century door. Above the porch is a camber-headed datestone inscribed “J.W./MDCCCXXXII”. The ground floor to the right has a 3-light camber-headed window and a 2-light window on the far right. The first floor has a 3-light and two 2-light casement windows, topped by a dentilled cornice. A ridge chimney stack is located on the left. A 20th-century addition is at the far right. The left side has rendered ground floor walling with French windows on the left and a 3-light casement window on the right. To the right of this is a window containing four blocked lights with a moulded sill, mullions, and transom. The first floor is jettied, with moulded brackets and a moulded bressumer supporting close studding along with a middle rail and tension braces to the right, left, and centre. A 4-light 19th-century casement window is set within a 17th-century projecting surround on the left, followed by a similar window, and then a 17th-century window with four blocked lights and moulded mullions and transom. A chimney stack is at the right of centre. The rear elevation exhibits close studding to the first floor of the 17th-century wing on the right. The interior features small-framed walling and chamfered and ovolo-moulded ceiling beams, along with stop-chamfered spine beams with run-out stops.
