Description

The Barony, also known as the Nantwich Institution, is an old workhouse building constructed in 1780. It is now surrounded by various 19th and 20th-century buildings. The structure features a symmetrical front and stands three storeys tall, built from brick with a tiled roof that is hipped at both ends. It has seven casement windows, which have generally been restored and do not have glazing bars. There is a slight central projection with a pediment that contains a clock face, and the central entrance on the ground storey is framed by a glazed porch. The building has dentilled brick eaves and modern stacks, while the interior has been significantly altered.
