Description
Nos. 6 and 8 in Queen's Square are 17th-century houses that were likely altered in the late 18th century and are now two cottages. They are built of coursed thin sandstone rubble on a low plinth, with quoins. The roof of No. 6 is tiled, while No. 8 has stone slates. Both houses feature chimneys located at the front of the ridge, one at the left end and one in the center.
The buildings have two bays and are two storeys high, with the wall raised above the first floor. Each cottage has an inserted doorway on the right side that breaks the plinth. The ground floor of No. 6 has a four-light double-chamfered stone mullion window with a hoodmould, although it is missing the center mullion. No. 8 has a large inserted window. On the first floor, each cottage has one square double-chamfered window, and the rear wall contains two similar windows.
Inside, some alterations were in progress at the time of the survey in 1984, but No. 6 featured an inglenook fireplace with a bressummer. The buildings are listed for their group value only.
