Description
The east-west wall, located 35 metres south of Red Cottage and linking to the house, was built in 1842 for Thomas Barnes. It is constructed of red and grey brick with sandstone embellishments. The wall features eight rectangular piers with grey brick corners and string courses, as well as plinth coping on the piers and along the wall. There is a string course at the wall coping and at the tops of the piers, topped with moulded coping made of bright red brick. Grey brick diaper patterns enclose a coat of arms, along with panels inscribed 'T1842B' and a starfish, all crafted in sandstone. The simpler wall of red and grey brick that connects Red Cottage with the decorated wall is included for its group value with these structures.
