Description
The Seed House, located to the southwest of No. 18 on Boldon Front Street in Whitburn, is a garden feature that was formerly used as a seed-house. It dates from the mid to late 19th century and is designed in the style of a classical temple with baroque decoration. The building is a single storey and features two windows and a central doorway on the south elevation, flanked by four Ionic pilasters. The north elevation is similar to the south. Both the east and west elevations also have two Ionic pilasters and high relief heads of river gods, along with a garlanded frieze. At the time of the survey, the building was roofless. It is situated in the grounds of the now-demolished Whitburn Hall.
