Description
The building is a clubhouse located in Jarrow Park, originally serving as the park-keeper's house, and it dates back to 1876. The north elevation is constructed of snecked sandstone, while the west side features Whinstone rubble with quoins and a plinth, along with sandstone dressings. The roof is made of Welsh slate and has flat stone coping, displaying a Jacobean style.
The west elevation, which faces the park entrance, is a single storey with three bays. It includes a four-light stone mullioned and transomed window. There is a wide boarded door set within a flat pointed Tudor arch, surrounded by massive alternating blocks, and a decorative panel above it in a moulded recess that extends from tongue-stopped jamb chamfers. Additionally, there is a two-light stone mullioned and transomed window. A string course at the lintels continues along the return gable to the street as a cill string. The north gable facing the street features a three-light mullioned and transomed window at its peak. The roof is adorned with ball finials on the gable footstones and has one transverse corniced stone chimney.
