Description

This is a mid-18th century house with a 19th-century shop front, located on the south side of Front Street in Tynemouth. The exterior is painted with incised render, and the roof is covered in Welsh slate. The house is three stories high with three windows. A central 4-panelled door has a large overlight beneath a late 19th-century dog-tooth moulded lintel and doorcase. To the left of the door is an elliptical-headed shop window with slender Gothic pilasters; a 20th-century window has been inserted into the blocked-in right-hand shop window. The shop front has a full-width fascia with end brackets supported by twin-shafted corbels. The upper floors have projecting stone sills to the 19th-century sash windows, which are set in plain reveals. An eaves gutter board is present. A rendered gable is visible on the right return, and there are two corniced brick chimneys. The building is included on the list partly for its contribution to the surrounding group of buildings.
